He was a two-time National League MVP, a 12-time Gold Glove winner, and a key member of the 1954 World Series championship team with the New York Giants. 

But Mays’ impact extended far beyond mere statistics. He was a true five-tool player, excelling in every facet of the game – hitting for power and average, running the bases with speed and daring, and patrolling center field with unparalleled grace and range.

His over-the-shoulder catch in the 1954 World Series, now simply known as “The Catch,” is widely regarded as one of the greatest defensive plays in baseball history.
